THE PROBLEM OF SPACE GARBAGE
Abstract
The study addresses a global problem: in the decades since the beginning of the space age, a large amount of space debris has accumulated in orbit. There is so much of it that in some cases the ISS has to change orbit and dodge debris from rockets and satellites. Even a small fragment with a diameter of several millimeters can damage the skin and cause depressurization of the station. It literally becomes crowded in near-Earth orbit due to the fact that obsolete objects, from the point of view of functioning, are gradually destroyed.
