Abstract

The effect of viscosity on the shape of viscoelastic celestial bodies is considered by the example of the motion of two homogeneous bodies, a planet and its satellite, about an attracting center. It is analyzed the structure of displacements of body’s points under the action of gravitational forces. The canonical equations of the surfaces of the elastic, viscous and viscoelastic bodies and their orientation are found in corresponding coordinate frames.
